Just signed up for the forum today(1-7-13). This is my first attempt at a BBS. I have been an Electrical Engineer
forever, and I have been involved in hardware design, assembly language programming for microprocessors, line BASIC,
QBASIC, and Visual BASIC. My software involvement has been very limited over the past 15 years, and I am looking to
get involved with the Raspberry Pi platform and others. I want to learn about Python, C for micros, and Linux. Never
liked the Windows approach of not being able to get direct access to the hardware. This looks like the good old days
of DOS. Hope I can learn to use the vast software resources that are available, and hope NOT to "brute force" the
code from the ground up using assembly language. Am involved heavily with serial communications using RS485, RS232,
Fiber optics, USB, Ethernet, etc., as well as remote digital and analog I/O. Hope to hear from others in this area.
Thanks,
Ron
