French :S COFFE NEOPIXEL TABLE... (first post)

Post by alxtrem »

Hello adafruit's Dream team
First i want to tell you that I like very much your site and your " electronic spirit "
I am French so my English is not very good...

I have just placed an order at Adafruit, 64 Neopixels to try to make a coffe Led table like this:

Could you tell me if my installation diagram is correct !??

What is your power supply? (your diagram is too small to see the details)

Neopixels require 5v. The Arduino can also run from 5v (regulated!) supplied via the 5v pin. But if you connect to the DC barrel jack as shown in your diagram, the minimum voltage is 7v.

Thank you for the fast answer!
I edited my comment with a bigger photo

My power supply is a RC LiPo battery 2S 7,4 V 3500 mAh

The assembly of neopixels is it correct?
And which board Adafruit can i use?

What is the green board connected to the LiPo?
As I said in my earlier post, the Neopixels require 5v. The Arduino connected as shown requires 7v-12v.

If you connect 7.4v to the neopixels they will be destroyed.

The green board is just a switch...

OK then I need necessarily a regulated 5V supply for neopix...

I thought that the descrition tehnique of neopixels indicated that they could work between 5 and 9 V this is why I had chosen a 7,4 V LiPo

OK. Those pixels will work with up to 9v. You can run them from your 7.4v battery with no problem.

I thought you were using the neopixel strips. Those are strictly 5v. Sorry for the confusion.

Haa !cool :D
Saw you any connection errors on my assembly with this type of neopixels

Are 8 points of + connection (1 / 40 cm) sufficient for 64 neopix for nice plenty colors?

Thank you

Sorry for the many questions

One small problem:

Your diagram shows V+ on top and GND on the bottom for all rows. But the signal flow alternates from left->right to right->left on alternate rows.

If you examine the pixel board closely, the signal direction is marked with an arrow. With V+ on top and GND on the bottom, the signal flow must always be right->left
