RaspBMC and corrupting Flash Drive

Post by chrisus »

http://mymediaexperience.com/raspberry- ... h-raspbmc/

I have been following the above link to set up a media center using the Pi, but I have had an issue with currupting SD cards and USB sticks. The site recommends using the USB stick for better performance. I am using a windows 8 PC to do the downloading. I know this is a problem with the RaspBMC installer, so I ran it using the windows compatibility program for windows 7, but nothing worked and I corrupted my USB drive to the point of no return. I have the suggested drive on order. It is a little expensive.

My plan is to, using a Windows7 PC to download a fresh copy of the BMC installer and send it to the new drive. I may be a little frugal, but I don't want to waste another drive.

Any issues I am not seeing or suggestions?

Not a clue I'm afraid.. your best bet is to talk to the person who put together that tutorial and see if they have any suggestions.

Looks like my Windows 8 machine was the problem. Ran it on a Windows7 machine no problem.
