I want to control 12v/300mA (2 nos) DC motor through Rpi (Raspberry pi) GPIO pins. I have used L293DNE ready board. When I connected GPIO pins to the Enable and i/p pins of L293D board, it burnt off 293d and also Rpi board got spoiled. I disconnected the GPIO connection and measured the voltage across EN and I/P pins w.r.t ground, it is giving 5v. Upon checking I found that both the EN and I/P pins are connected to the 5v supply.
How to make proper connection and also let me know the precautions to be taken.

Re: connecting dc motor to Rpi board
A 12v 300mA motor at 5v should only draw about 125mA. That is well within the limits of the L293D (600mA). Are you sure you have the motor specs right?
