Ultimate GPS powered directly from 3.3V

Post by jes »

My serial port is the 3.3V variety.
Can I connect Ultimate GPS JP1 pin 9=3V3 directly to my 3.3V power supply, or should I still go through the LDO (e.g. pin 2=VIN) instead?

The 3.3v pin is an output from the onboard regulator, and in general you don't want to feed regulators backwards.

The Vin pin can accept any supply voltage from 3.3v to 5v, so go ahead and make your power connection there.
