I tend to only do hard liquor if I'm trying to get drunk, which is rare.
When I drink, I drink for taste. Spaten Optimator is a doppleboch that is more along the lines of a loaf of bread in a bottle. You drink one and immediately scream "YARRRRR MATEY". Very tasty.
Right now I'm chillin' to Labatt Blue, a Canadian pilsner. It's like water compared to Spaten though.

I've been brewing my own beer now for almost a year. I will never buy beer from the store again! This is so much better. Right now, I am enjoying a nice IPA that was brewed in late April and has been fermenting in the bottle since about mid-May. It is just now perfect and smooth. I plan on brewing five more batches (~250 bottles) by our yearly Halloween party. Oktoberfest, babeee!

But ya gotta use real limes and make a heavy limeade. don't use the ikky store bought mixer stuff.
Hey to your standard concoction, add a couple drops of amaretto. Then with the salt make a mix or about 1/4th sugar to 3 parts salt. The salt sugar mix confuses the tongue but tastes awesome. The amaretto smooths it all out (although too much can make it bitter).
But... Call it bad form if you like, but, I like Southern Comfort over ice for sippin'.
