Liscence Question for using pictures from ladyada

Post by gatonero »

Hi liscence specialists,

I'm translating the Arduino Tutorial from http://www.ladyada.net/learn/arduino/index.html to german on http://www.freeduino.de/de/books/lady-ada-tutorial. I'm using some pictures from ladyada.net-tutorial. I haven't seen any liscence rules. Is it ok to use those pictures?

Have fun!

From the very page you linked:

"All of the content in the Arduino Tutorial is CC 2.5 Share-Alike Attrib. You can use the text and pictures all you want, providing you do all the hosting, and indicate the attribution like: "This tutorial is by Limor Fried and from http://www.ladyada.net/learn/arduino". Thanks!"

So in essence: no "hotlinking", provide attribution, and license your content under the same or similar license.

Thanks for Your answer!

Could You please explain, what hotlinking means? Do I have to host the pictures on a diffrent server?

I'd think that would be clear from "You can use the text and pictures all you want, providing you do all the hosting". ;)
