MONOCHRON KS0108 Graphic LCD - white on black - backpack?

I would really like to add this LCD to my project box. .. if it had a back pack like https://www.adafruit.com/products/292
Spark fun has a graphics LCD serial Backpack: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9352
but I don't know if it would work with this display.

I could see use for it in my truck where I'm currently using a 2x16 display for EGT and boost.
add more sensors, oil temp, trans temp, intake air temp, exhaust drive pressure.... bigger display.. more to display!

There is interest in the pairing of this display with a serial or I2C backpack
The white on black is awesome.. have to hold back temptation to put in cart... cant have it using all my pins..... must resist :p

..yea I really want that LCD, but I'm not ready to code my own backpack yet =/
One key feature for me is to be able to adjust back light brightness.

I had a look at the Sparkfun board. It looks like the display should work with it.
