Defective Adafruit Ultimate GPS Breakout - 66 channel w/10 H

Post by sdscotto »

In working on an embedded project, I noticed I was getting about 40% corrupted sentences from the above GPS.

After quite a bit of debugging, I disconnected the GPS module from my development environment and connected it directly to a Tektronix MSO3034.

With the TX pin of the module directly connected to the MSO3034 with DPO3COMP, I am seeing "framing errors" at the default rate of 9600bps, 8, N, 1.

What else can I do to test? Has this been seen before?

Thanks in advance,
scotto

I haven't heard of an issue like that. Could you please post a screenshot of such an error so our experts can take a look at it? (the forum software accepts images up to about 800x600)

We've never seen any framing or TX issues from the GPS, if you connect directly to a USB-serial converter all sentences show up. it could be a buffering problem on your application.

Thanks for the replies.

I have eliminated my application. I have the GPS directly connected to test equipment. It is the Tek scope reporting the framing errors, and was my application reporting CRC errors that led to me to connect the scope.

If you haven't seen this before, I will continue to debug on my end.

Thanks,
scotto
