Item on subject order description: "Miniature WiFi (802.11b/g/n) Module: For Raspberry Pi and more" seems to have been defective out of the package. I plugged it into a powered USB hub and the indicator light on the hub went dim so I took it out. It felt very hot. I tried plugging the Mini WIFI into another socket but the same thing happened. I tried plugging it into a laptop, but the MiniWIFI seemed to be completely dead as it did not trigger a driver install or search on the laptop or even the sound the laptop normally makes when any USB device is plugged in or remover.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the USB hub as I use it all the time for various computers. In fact the RPi Model A on the same order was plugged into to it at the time and still works.
So I guess I'm requesting a replacement.

That does sound like the dongle is drawing too much current.
