minipov3 wont blink anymore

Post by stavi24 »

ok so i purchased the minipov kit and put it all together and it flashed the sequence like it was supposed to, but when i plugged it in and tried to install the firmware it kept failing. i have a serial pci card on my computer and it is running vista. when i first plugged it in the sequenced lights stop. i found the com port turned on the kit and when i start the programming it gives me the following.

avrdude -p attiny2313 -P com3 -c dasa -U flash:w:minipov.hex

avrdude: AVR device not responding
avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override this check

avrdude done. Thank you.

make: *** [program-minipov] Error 1

when i would give the make command it would blink the 3 furthers leds from the connector once. i unplugged the kit and the sequencing started again i plugged it back in and trying multiple times getting the same error but when i unplugged it again now there is no sequencing, did i somehow toast the ic?

Looks like a good job on the assembly. Do you have the MiniPOV powered up when you connect it to the COM port?

check the solder on the serial connector. takes a while to heat up those pins and you could have some cold joints
