Programming Error

Post by WeeBo »

Hi there,
Enjoyed putting together the MiniPOV and seeing all the blinky LED's but alas I have a problem during programming/flashing.
I'm using Win7 64, with either AVR Studio 5, or avrdude.
The USB to Serial cable is connected to COM5 @ 9600 baud.
This is the message I receive while programming,

c:\minipovfirmware>make program-testing
avrdude -p attiny2313 -P com5 -c dasa -U flash:w:testing.hex

avrdude: AVR device not responding
avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
this check.

avrdude done. Thank you.

make: *** [program-makezine] Error 1

Now I'm not sure how the MiniPOV is supposed to look like while plugged in during programming, but after the serial cable is plugged in none of the LED's blink.
The solder joints look pretty good on the board, nothing looks shorted out. any ideas will be great, thank you :)

Pawel.

One possible cause of that message is attempting to program the device without it battery power switched ON.
Are you keeping the power switch ON when you try to program it?
