New 303-style Aluminum Enclosures

Postby SubStyler » Thu Oct 07, 2010 2:42 pm

hi x0xers,

ok... the prototype of my new "superflat" aluminum enclosure is here. comes with the smallest possible dimensions and the aluminum has an ultrafine anodized surface with a superb black silkscreening wich is done before anodizing! so the silkscreening is light-genuinly, absolutely resistant against scratches, caustic solutions or whatever. (under normal use)
there are CNC welded screw mounts for direct PCB mounting, no more stands needed. fits 100%
the dimensions: 205mm x 240mm x 42mm height. a standard x0xb0x will fit if you extend the 2200µF caps with wire. (it works)
the price-target is approximately 89 euros per kit including all screws, washers, power switch and aluminum side rails.
with a bit of luck under 80 euros! there are some negotiations with the manufacturer ;)

you'll see some scratches on the inner surface of the frontplate... but hey... it's just the prototype
check the pics if you like and begin flame ;)

looks nice - you got a pic of the box with sides attached? any idea if it will fit with a) the xoxio io/overdrive kit, and b) the new cpu mod when available?

thus they look, if they are assembled... if all going well.
but there's no room for mods like Brian's mods. we have 42mm height outside, inside we have ~ 35mm. not more :)
this case is not for modded x0xen... it's just for the pure banned. (upps... eehmm i mean pure x0x ;) )

That is sweet, I’ll be keeping watching for when that becomes available in your shop :D Any ideas on the lead time?

yeah, I think in week 43/44 I'll have the first load of enclosure kits ready to ship.
I have to change some details, but the prototype is mechanically quite nice.

cheers,

it's made with a CNC punching machine and a CNC welding device. the printing is offset-printing before anodizing. this means the anodized coat is over the colour, so it is very resistantly. (I hope that I express myself correctly... I'm not the advanced english speaker  )

I don't think so, because my target was to get the housing as small as possible. bigger enclosures are available from Altitude or Reedlaw.
