the usb should be recognized in any mode
regardless of whether the micro is in or not
the data lines should have sharp pulses on them
not sinewaves

looks like it goes down to 10 ns. there are also too buttons i can push to go x10.
it's a tektronix 7704 a, i'll google the manual see what i can find.
what voltage will these spikes be at, and about what time setting should I be trying?

if it goes down to 10ns
thats plenty fast to measure 6MHz
you should see a clean sinewave at 6MHz
about 1v or so peak to peak
the data should be 5v pulses
probably at a lower speed like 1MHz
but im not positive on that
and if its not a digital storage scope
you might not catch them

well then perhaps my xtl2 is the culprit...i'll check my xtl1 later and see how it looks for reference. i definitely was not getting a 1v sine wave, i was getting mainly dc offset + a very very fast very very subtle sinewave.
