can you post a clean picture of the vca section
it might be that the solder joints need to be reworked
im suprised to hear that the original ba6110 is working now
which makes me think that the solder joints might be bad
can you list all the voltages on the ba6110
for note off and note on conditions
No sound on outputs (x0xsh0p.de kit)

Re: No sound on outputs (x0xsh0p.de kit)
Ok i made some pics of VCA section, hope you can see clear the joint points...I also thought that I could depend on some welding, when the BA6110 are out of work, and after some welding pass again I noticed that i felt a low gain sound, and the VCA is always open.
As far as the voltages of the BA6110, they do not change in the least to the pressure of the note key, in keyboard mode, and these are:
1. 5.31 v
2. 5.31 v
3. 0 v
4. 0.94 v
5. 0 v
6. 5.04 v
7. 5.04 v
8. 5.33 v
9. 11.82 v

Re: No sound on outputs (x0xsh0p.de kit)
the solder joints look great
but there might be some bits between pins 2 and 3
on the vca
that are getting in the way
the voltages look ok
what are the datecodes on both ba6110 you have
are they the same
is it constantly making sound now
if yes
does it sound ok except for lack of envelope

Re: No sound on outputs (x0xsh0p.de kit)
In fact, I even think about this ... could be something in the envelope section? The datecode of the chip that better work is 029 147 while the other is marked 402 155

its possible its in the envelope section
is the x0x always making sound now?

I'm a bit unsure about this one:guest wrote:its possible its in the envelope section
Shouldn't pin 4 be on 0v normally? If it's always on nearly 1v this could explain why there's always sound.4. 0.94 v

yes, just for this, could it be the envelope the malfunctioning section ?

Re: No sound on outputs (x0xsh0p.de kit)
I think up to Q4 everything looked ok. If that indeed is the case it would leave Q1 and Q2 as the "suspects". But I'm not completely sure about this - it still could be the BA6110.exagonal wrote:yes, just for this, could it be the envelope the malfunctioning section ?

Re: No sound on outputs (x0xsh0p.de kit)
if it is making constant tone now
check that q1 through q4 are all the right type
a bad or wrong transistor in one of those places
could pull down the 12v rail when the ba6110 is inserted
then check the voltage on d35
both for note on and note off
it should go from 12v to 0v
if thats good
check the voltage at the q31 and r131 juncture
it should go to around 1v when a key is pressed
and then float back up to 12v over the next few seconds

Re: No sound on outputs (x0xsh0p.de kit)
In the cathode of D35 there's a constant voltage of 1.03 V. When do short press note (like a pulse) this drops to 0 for a few seconds and then slowly up to 1.03 V.
Something different if you hold down the button ... the voltage rises up to 11.80 V.
Such behavior occurs in the junction of Q31 and R131, we have a constant voltage of 1.13 V at rest, with brief pressure drops to 0 before increasing again to 1.13 V, with a long press takes you directly to 11.80 V

Re: No sound on outputs (x0xsh0p.de kit)
I think I can completely exonerate the BA6110. Today I received the new one, replace the latter that I ordered, and works like the first, the original kit: low volume and VCA always open ... we begin to look elsewhere!

Re: No sound on outputs (x0xsh0p.de kit)
i would reccomend
leaving the ba6110 out of the socket
until we figure out what the other problem is
that will prevent it from getting hurt
did you double check q1 through q4
that they are the right types
check the voltage on r146
the side that goes to the microcontroller
it should go from 0v to 5v
when you hold a key in keyboardmode
if that works
then check r143
the side that goes to q37
it should go from 12v to 0v
when you hold a key in keyboard mode

Re: No sound on outputs (x0xsh0p.de kit)
I check the voltage on r146
the side that goes to the microcontroller
it going from 0.04 v to 4.85v
when i hold a key in keyboardmode
then i check R143 in
the side that goes to q37
it going from 11.60v to 0.02v
when i hold a key.
Apparently they are working well...

Re: No sound on outputs (x0xsh0p.de kit)
check d35 again
it should go from 0v to 12v when a key is held down
then check pin4 of the vca socket
it should go from 0v to 12v when the ba6110 isnt inserted
