Hello,
i bought a x0xb0x at x0xshop.de.
On the cd which came with the kit are various firmwareinfos.
1. MarOS1.4
2. SoKKos 1.9.1
I found in the manual belonging to SoKKos 1.9.1 the option to cycle through the notes "step-by-step" while the sequencer is running. In my case, this is not possible, so i suppose, not having SoKKos 1.9.1 onto my chip.
May anyone tell me, which is "the best" actual firmware (may 2013).
Which firmware do you use and why?

Which firmware?

Re: Which firmware?
editing the pattern while it's running is certainly possible in both sokkOS and the stock firmware, it should be in marOS too i guess
as for which firmware to use.. that's up to you
sokkOS 1.x is the most common i think
sokkOS 2.x has triplet patterns
marOS is more different afaik
i'm also working on my n0nx0x2 firmware which aims to mimick the TB-303 sequencer interface, it's under developement and requires a cpu-upgrade (which is not very obtainable, sadly) more info here

Re: Which firmware?
Hey, thanks for your infos.
It`s true, i can edit the pattern while it's running, but i can`t go through the pattern step-by-step.
I can only push a button at the right time while the sequencer is running and then the note will be added (or replaced) at the actual position.
What do you mean with "cpu-upgrade"? An atmel 328?

Re: Which firmware?
i'm not that familiar with the stock firmware, but i think you can press NEXT/PREV to step-thru the notes even when running
cpu-upgrade: since the original x0x cpu (atmega162) is very small, it's not quite possible to make nice firmware with lots of features, so a few years ago, a few people here on the forum made a cpu-upgrade project
it's a small board which plugs into the x0x cpu socket and gives it an atmega2561 which has 16 times more space for code
