Hi, I`ve got x0xb0x from eBay. On backpanel it written that it made by x0xSource. It seems all working except couple things.
What I not care much now:
1. Decay knob not doing much. Searching forum, I`m going to find IC12 and replace it.
2. No IC15A on board, is it optional?
What I really care:
ACC and Slide LED not worked. I replaced them with 100% working LEDs, and they still not lightning up. I tested previous that desoldered with battery, and they seems broken.
How do I update firmware (want to try latest sokkos)
a) power up with bootload
b) send firmware sysex
c) reset
right?

Re: Acc and Slide LEDs not lightning up
the x0x has two variants for IC15 - the original (very rare/expensive) part - BA662, or the slightly different BA6110 (which needs a few more additional components to make it work similarly to the original part)
hence it has IC15 'A' and 'B' - only one is enough
you should check if you got 5V across the LEDs
the firmware can be change via the bootloader
however, the x0x bootloader on the atmega162 doesn't have sysex.. instead, it's done via USB
you'll have to install a special driver which "converts" the USB into a virtual serial port, and then, the firmware can be flashed via this serial port with a special app (c0ntr0l / BANNED / avrdude)

Re: Acc and Slide LEDs not lightning up
Updated firmware still no luck with LEDs.
Sorry, but can you point where I can download schematic in jpeg to follow 5V on LEDs? I don`t know where is a ground point, and where put another probe to look where voltage stops passing to LED. When I will mesuare it, should it be like in bootload status? (So all LEDs are lit).

Still not sure, where should I mesuare? One probe on IC8 output, another on LED?
I am little bit in confusion what pins from IC8 should connect resistors.
According to schematic:.
IC8 pin 2 > R204
IC8 pin 1 > R205
I rang with multimetr on power off unit:
IC8 pin13, 1,2,8 > R205. R204 Connected same:
IC8 pin13, 1,2,8 > R204
Should not they be connected for only one pin of IC8?
Also pin 13(G) and 1,2,8 on IC8 are shortened.

Re: Acc and Slide LEDs not lightning up
if they're shorted to ground - that's bad
check the board around IC8 very carefully on both sides and look for shorts/bridges

The x0b0x PCB is double sided, so there is no layers inside, right? If yes, I do not see visually anything. Is it possible that IC8 faulty?

Re: Acc and Slide LEDs not lightning up
i don't know
if they're socketed - you could try one of the others in IC8 and see if it behaves more properly
the pcb is only double sided, fortunately
you could try removing IC8 and see if there is actually a short between GND and those pins
if there isn't - then the board must be fine and the fault is in the chip itself i guess

Oh, I tried o desolder IC8 like for an hour. It won`t give up, I think I will cut it.

Re: Acc and Slide LEDs not lightning up
i hope you are not trying to desolder it with the bare iron
use something for desoldering, i use "desoldering wick":

Re: Acc and Slide LEDs not lightning up
I used pump. Never had a luck with wick, solder just not sticking to wick (maybe I have bad ones). Somehow I desoldered IC8 (melted one button cap, until realised that it can be pulled out). There is no short on PCB beetwen pin1,2 and G. And there is a short on desoldered IC8 beetwen pin 1,2 and 8(G). I will try to buy and swap it tommorow. Hope LEDs start blinking, many thanks to you, Antto.

Re: Acc and Slide LEDs not lightning up
since you've desoldered it, i'd get a socket too, and solder the socket, this way if that same chip ever causes another trouble - you'll just pull it out of the socket

Yes, I soldered socket. Replaced IC8 and all works fine. Thanks!
