Unfortunately I can't re-install the firmware.
I am using "c0ntr0l", and when I select the firmware, the following error appears: "The x0xb0x did not respond. Check to be sure that the x0xb0x is in the bootload mode".
I tried in different ways, also found in the forum, but nothing

Now I'm trying with "BANNED", it says "connected" but also:
"Knock knock ... Error: could not get DeviceID string. Failed"
and so I give up ... buy a new CPU

make sure the x0xb0x is actually running the bootloader:

1) switch the x0x OFF
2) turn the MODE selector to "BOOTLOAD"
3) switch the x0x ON (some leds may stay lit or all of them or none, this is random behaviour)
4) turn the MODE selector to any other mode like "RANDOM" or so - if the x0xb0x actually reacts to that, it changes the LEDs, plays patterns, responds to buttons and so on - this means that it's actually running the firmware, which would mean that for some reason the bootloader didn't start (most likely it doesn't have one)

if nothing happens when you change to other modes, and the x0x seems "frozen" - then it's probably running the bootloader
if so - connect the USB cable, you'll have to install USB<->Serial drivers, and then the x0x should appear as a Serial port on the computer - check which port it is (something like COM3 on windows or ttyUSB-something on unix)

then, run BANNED again, and from the settings - select that port

then, Upload Firmware

Probably the bootloader doesn't working, because by following your instructions, turning the knob "mode select", x0xb0x reacts and changes the mode

so it acts as if there's no bootloader at all on it
where did you get the x0x?

EDIT: x0xsh0p.de? :?

Yes, I confirm, I bought the kit on x0xsh0p. I do not know what happened, maybe I'm just unlucky. I will send an email to x0xsh0p to inform them about this thing and then I will decide what to do

X0xshop sent me a new tested ATMEGA162.
Now I can confirm that the problem was caused by this piece.
My x0xb0x works fine but sometimes when I turn it on, all the LEDs light up and it does not respond to any commands. Trying to turn off and on a few times, the xoxbox back to work  :?:
