construction details (tips?)

Post by MJSemtex »

i've noticed in the photos on the site that most of the resistors, etc aren't soldered flat to the board but are left with one side high and the other more flush...

correct me if i'm wrong but, i'm assuming this is so you can get in there and test and/or mount mods, etc without having to un-solder and re-solder...

is it worth taking note of the photos and mounting them the same during construction?

yes, this is another standard way of stuffing resistors into PCBs. It saves a lot of surface area, at the small cost of allowing the resistors to possibly touch one another if you bend them by mistake. A bit of care will be sufficient to avoid this... it works fine. I think Jonnay might have had this problem briefly at first; just check your work as you go (which never hurts, in general). :)
