x0xb0x #93 finished (with problems)

Post by faldska »

So I finally finished #93 today. And I switch it to keyboard mode and play the keys and nothing happens. When I happen to hit the Accent switch all of a sudden the keys start making noise. Same thing goes for pattern mode. The only notes that sound are the accented ones. Any suggestions?? Everything else seems to work fine.

I had Q36 in backwards, and had the exact same problem. Good news is that it probably isn't fatal. Check your transistors in the env section.

Q36 as well as the other transistors in the envelope section look correct. I check both type (NPN vs PNP) and orientations. I alos checked the diodes and they are also oriented correctly. Any other suggestions? Any points I can probe on the board to determine if I have a faulty part? Thanks again.

check the gate out and see if its goes to 12v when notes are on
there are two seperate current feeds to the vca
one through the gate
and the other through the accent
it sounds like your gate feed is shot

I found it. There was a short between the two legs of C72 (I think it was 72, I've closed the box up already). I unsoldered it and found some solder shorting the two pins together. Removed solder, replaced cap, and it works. Thanks.
