right, my stupid ass reversed D2, ... that's why the reset line was low.
man, can't believe i didn't notice that, checked all components at least twice... n00b
still, she doesn't work 100% yet...
what seems to work well, for example:
- basic keys, leds, etc...
- midi in works flawlessly: notes are read and played correctly including slide and accent.
- midi out works, in play mode midi clock is transmitted
what doesn't work well:
- pattern edit works as described in STEP mode only. i can edit and
store patterns. but R/S mode doesn't play, but midi clock is transmidded
the synth plays a single decaying note when RUN, altering pitch now and than, seems unrelated to pattern contents.
- random mode plays 3 16th notes followed a 16th rest, in a loop. pitch, accent, slide all remain constant... is this intentional? doens't sound very random to me *grins*
- tempo led doesn't really blink @ bpm speed.. or, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, it does change blink speed, but not according to bpm. or maybe i'm tripping..
- keyboard mode seems to work weird.... e.g. note is played,
so i think, "maybe mcu flash is BANNED? lets reflash"
- usb_tx works, "cat /dev/tty.usbserial-01B" outputs characters when i turn the tempo knob.
- last time i checked with the scope the usb_rx from the FTDI chip
transmitted some pulses. i had to return the scope just now so couldn't recheck this.
- but, JAvrProg nor c0ntr0l cant upload firmware or connect

if something springs to mind, please let me now...
for now, i'll wait for the programmer and new mega to arive and burn a new mcu.
finally, thanks SO much for your help and for designing, publishing and making kits of this machine. *bows*
