The "gate-on" switch causes all audio to stop
Not any more :)

Thanks again bcbox for pointing me in the right direction.

I tested the collector of Q37 and it was not being pulled to ground, so backing up, I found that I had connected Pad 28 to the wrong side of R143 because I thought I had not flipped it from the silkscreen, but I had :?

The modes and functions are now verified but 1.
:D

I have the last function sorted. Thanks again bcbox for the help. :)
The env2 to vco2 switch works as it should. It always did, I just wasn't understanding that part of the circuit yet. :?

The last thing I had to fix was the calibration of TM403 env2 to vco adjust.
The range was not correct to grab the tuning. The frequncy dropped when I switched from VCA to VCO.
I found TM3 in the schematics and there is a static resistor (R454 68k) to set the range.
I double checked the values. They are good.
I triple-checked the reference voltages (5V33 and 11V9) and they are spot on.
Next I changed R454 from 68K to 66.5K as suggusted by bcbox. FIXED :D

I have tested and calibrated all the electronics.

Here is how I created the 66K5 resistor for the calibration of TM403 env2 to vco adjust.
Since I do not use through-hole resistors, I had to make it with 2 surface mount resistors.
Made with a 10K (0603 size) and a 56K (0805 size) in series.
Surface mount is perfect because I work with SMT daily and build full circuits with 0402 sized resistors.
I did not have to separate the PCAs to do the rework.
I wish there were more SMT kits, but the DIY community doesn't do much SMT.
I would love to see this entire x0xi0 synth on a singe board using SMT parts.

I assembled the entire box, except for a couple of the pots that have to be glued.
I played and tested all the functions again. All good.

I then pulled all the guts back out because I did not like the brightness of the x0xi0 LEDs. Too bright and intrusive :( .
Actually they were not the stock LEDs, they were ultra-bright cyan LEDs that I had swapped in.
(I have already done much rework of the same ilk on the main board (long ago) for all the custom LEDs I used on the sequencer)
I changed R483 which is the current limiting resistor for the ACC DECAY LED from 1K to 10K.
I changed R468 which is the current limiting resistor for the ENV DECAY LED from 1K to 10K.
I changed R476 which is the current limiting resistor for the GATE LED from 10K to 20K.
I changed R486 which is the current limiting resistor for ENV2 LED from 2K2 to 10K.
I changed the current limiting resistors for the HI RES and HI CUTOFF Leds form 1K to 20K
And I changed the current limiting resistor for the TEMPO LED on the main board to reduce its brightness too.
Now all the LEDs are perfect illumination. :)

I did not have through-hole parts, so I used 1206 sized surface mount resistors and on the longer lead spacing, I even added a jumper to accommodate the gap:

The only thing left to do is find a good transformer for the 110V power input.
I'll get some pictures of the guts when I break the case open for that installation.

Thanx Altitude :) Big help!
I started searching and with limited knowledge and experience, got lost real quick :?
I will order one on Monday.

 AWSOME! I would love to make an analog drum machine 909 style.

Just watch it with the mains voltages, they can kill you.

I also recommend a power entry module, its a socket for a power cord, fuse, and on off button in one.

Thanks Altitude, I like that power entry module, but I already have a 110V plug/filter and fuse mounted on the chassis and can't really go back and change it now.

Yes, be very carful with the 110VAC!
Do not attemp this mod if you are not farmiliar with working with mains voltages.
My inexperience was more limited to finding a transformer that would best match my application. I was a little overwhelmed with the huge variety of transformers available.

Thanks isak, I will be sure to get some raw sounds recorded and share what this box can do.

HUGE thanks to bcbox for this brilliant mod and for being so helpful. You rock BC!

Thanks decoder23, it has been quite the project, and I have learned so much thanks to the brilliance of bcbox. I also must send a shout-out to Adafruit (and the engineers at Roland who designed that funky little box called the TB-303 ................and then of course the artists who gave birth to a whole new way to abuse it.)
