Midi in LED?

Post by hambro »

Hello all,
Does anyone know where an LED could be placed on the i/o board in order to "see" incoming Midi data?
Cheers,
Eric

Never mind!
Just found great connection points that make the LED brighter the higher the note played. Looks really nice during complicated fast sequences or arpeggios via midi in, kind of makes the x0xb0x look like it's breathing. :D

I would also like to know. A MIDI activity LED would be a nice addition.
Please share :)

Bear with me since i'm new to electronics.....
I believe it's the positive leg of the LED going to the ground connection of the CV jack.
And the negative leg going to the pin on the firmwear chip that lines up with the last 0 on C100.

It looks neat but for practicality (seeing Midi activity in the lower notes) you will have to connect to one of the
three jumper wires in between the CV and Gate jacks.

P.S What is the proper way to tell which pin is which on an IC?

I think the LED connections are reversed (neg lead should go to ground).
What you are doing is driving the LED directly off of the IC. I would be a little concerned that the IC may not like the extra current draw.

I thought that might be the case with the IC. Do you know of safer point where I could take the same signal from?

Thanks for the link!
