Finally my x0xb0x is ready!
now, i'm trying to upload the last firmware but i have some trouble with Win Xp SP3 under Parallels.
First error i obtained was about the mcsvr71.dll: i downloaded it and installed in system32 folder.
Now, when i try to run the x0x control software i obtain a new error and a log file. What's the problem?
any hint?
tnx a lot

Re: mac os x: parallels and x0xb0x control problem
What exactly was the error message?
Note that in Parallels, you probably have to tell it to somehow forward the USB port to the virtualized OS, Windows. (But I'm assuming you already did that....)

I got the c0ntr0l update working fine on OS X, can't you update the firmware from OS X ?
I did end up updating the firmware from XP, but i'm using bootcamp.

Re: mac os x: parallels and x0xb0x control problem
Yep, just use c0ntr0l on OSX - it's easy. However I was fooled for a while... the connection kept dropping after a few seconds or c0ntr0l kept saying it couldn't make connection at all... by accident I found that by turning the x0x off/on while c0ntr0l was running, I was able to upload the firmware.
I've used this technique 4 times - no probs.

after some try i finally get an usbserial port in the x0xb0x c0ntr0l port list but if as soon i click on connect i obtain "connected" and immediately the disconnection message.
(in bootload mode all leds light up even if sometimes only someone - as it should be, i guess)
news:
in "computer controlled" mode, everything works: connection ok, back up ok...but there is no way to get the same result with bootload
news 2:
ok! i don't know how but everything works fine. new firmware (1.9.1): simply great!!!
tnx a lot for help!!!

Re: mac os x: parallels and x0xb0x control problem
Is there a "Dummies Guide to x0xb0x firmware updates for OS X Users" somewhere?
I've installed all the stuff mentioned, but I don't have a clue what to do with any of it. It's completely over my head to be honest! I have XP on my Mac also, so if its easier to do from XP then I don't mind that.
Any pointers either way will be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: mac os x: parallels and x0xb0x control problem
It worked for me in the following order...just follow and install. everything in the same way i did and you should be ok :
I am using a (old) Mac G4 MP with OS 10.4.11...and downloaded the following progs (tx for the hints Toxaco) :
Python 2.5.4 (Standard install.)
wxpython (Standard install.)
pyserial (Extract files from the archive, open a shell/console in that directory and type: "python setup.py install")
USB Serial Driver : FT232B 2.1.10 (Standard install.)
c0ntr0l for Mac (Just unzip)
After installing everything just be sure to restart the Mac once, then doubleclick c0ntr0l.py and follow the standard procedure to update the firmware of the x0xb0x.

Re: mac os x: parallels and x0xb0x control problem
I followed the install, but I only get bluetooth serial ports in the Control App. The USB serial driver does not seem to work. How do I verify this?
I am on OSX 10.5.7
Intel Mac.

You will need another driver for a Intel Mac : http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP/Mac ... 2_2_10.dmgMatrix12x wrote:I followed the install, but I only get bluetooth serial ports in the Control App. The USB serial driver does not seem to work. How do I verify this?
