you should take an external source
like another synth or cd player
and plug it into the mixin

and then try playing notes to hear the sound
if you hold the waveform switch in the middle
it should silence the vco

you can only hear things when the vca is triggered
which is why you need to play notes to hear it

mmm..i understand.
and if i'll do it like u said here..
youre going to need a capacitor and a resistor
solder a wire from ioboard j7 pin3 to a 47k resistor
you may want to experiment with resistor values
and the the other end of the resistor should go to a 10uF capacitor
this will be an electrolytic capacitor
so be sure that the resistor connects to the negative end of the capacitor
then solder the positive end of the capacitor
to the r70 and c17 juncture
whichever is easiest to get to is fine
then i will not have to trigger anything right?
i'll give it a try unless u'r saying what i did is better.

the vcf goes into the vca
so unless you bypass the vca
you will always have to trigger the vca
to hear the sound

is it working now

yes thank you, but i wanted it to be independent.. :? like to be able to control the cutoff only when the x0x is on, no sound playing.
never mined i'll tell the owner of the x0x that this is it.
no magic mushroom around

It is totally possible actually, you could use the vca/gate on mod to leave the gate open forever.

If you don't replace the waveform switch with a on-off-on switch instead of the on-on?

That would turn the OSC feed into the VCF, it would not do anything about the gate and env. If you want to just run audio through the filter, you must do the gate/env mod. I just have mine as a DPDT switch with 12V as a common input and the two outs the the diodes

you could also
send vcf mixin on the tip
and patch vcf out to the ring
it wouldnt be perfect
but would be pretty easy
