Very noisy distortion on x0xi0

Post by crx091081gb »

Hi guys, just been playing with the distortion turned on on my x0xi0 and it keeps putting out random sort of crackling, it sounds a bit like a piece of scratched vinyl. The amount knob has always been pretty crackly when the type knob is in the up position, I tried cleaning the pot but it never went away. I didn't mind the knob being scratchy but now it sounds crackly whenever I turn the distortion on regardless of which way the type button is set.

Don't really know where to start with this one, it's one of the older x0xi0s, I have the front panel mod too (again an early one without the mixer board).

Any ideas? Brian? Guest? Anyone?

Much respect and love for the x0xb0x online massive.

Just checked the long list of install problems, could this be a problem with the Alpha pot shorting? I'm going to check to see if there's a short there later. Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Hi,
it could a problem from the pot himself, i already have this noisy sound when your turn the pot. The only solution was to revove it !

Did you just replace the pot with an equivalent part?
