I was wonder what the 8-pin socket is used for, both the capacitors, the bypass capacitor, the resistors, and the diode. I need help determinging what each one does and is used for in the minty boost.

You can find information concerning what each joint/socket is for in respect to the part that should be there in the soldering page of Ladyada's 'Make' intstructions. (i.e. the 8 socket joint is for the MAX756 boost chip)
