MintyBoost not working; reading 4.98V output

Postby Asterisk » Thu Dec 13, 2012 11:52 pm

Hi all,

I just finished putting together my MB and I can't get it to work. It seems the output voltage is a little low. Any ideas? Pics below.

Not sure what you mean "Can't get it to work." ? 4.98-V output is not low.
4.95 to 5.05 is +/- 1% of 5.0-V, well within the normal operating range.

Am I missing something?

John,

Thanks for the quick reply. I should have explained further.

I have plugged two devices into the MB to test it out—an iPhone 4 and a Mophie Juice Pack Plus—and neither of the two recognize the MB as a power source, and therefore do not begin charging.

I was thinking 4.98v might have been just low enough to not work, but if that's not the case then I'm not sure what the problem could be, and I am back at needing help from someone smarter than me.

This is the very first project I have ever soldered together, so I was hoping the answer would be as simple as "you messed something up."

Disregard. I finally got the MB working.

It was a beginner's mistake... after soldering for a couple hours, I got hasty towards the end and completely overlooked soldering two joints on the rear. I took a break and came back, noticed my oversight and corrected it, and now it runs fine.

Thanks again John.

Glad it was something simple and it is working for you now.
