iPhone 3GS - three AA alkalines - not enough power

Post by Lucidus »

I was too hasty submitting my last post.

The 3 AA Energizer alkaline batteries started off charging the 3GS OK, but the phone stopped charging, giving the "not supported" error message, after only about 15 minutes. The batteries were quite warm. These batteries can not sustain the estimated .8 Amp drain.

Today I made a three D cell pack. With 10 year old weak Duracell batteries removed from an emergency flashlight, the phone charged from less than half charge to full charge in about 1.5 hours. This is what I need for a reliable emergency backup cell phone charger.
