Output 7.7 V?

Post by dottore11 »

I just built my mintyboost and it's testing 7.7 output instead of the expected 5. Any ideas about what might be causing the problems?

I know it looks crappy. the problem was that my soldering iron crapped out on me at the start of the lab and didn't figure it out until later. I got a new one and retouched everything up.. It doesn't look as bad as these high-res pics x(

Any help would be really appreciated, I'm trying to make one as a gift as well = (

no, that's really how it looks.. What I meant was that the magnified resolution makes it look worse than it really is I guess. The pics are what I currently have.

its likely a cold solder joint, go over each point, use wick to remove the old solder if the solder joint looks bad and redo it.
also check your multimeter to make sure it works

dottore11, check the capacitor attached to the REF pin of the MAX756. My cap was bad and it was giving me strange readings (somewhere around 8V)
