I recently completed a mintyboost kit (1.2) and had it working fine - USB gave 5V, charged my son's Ipod. When I put it in an Altoid's tin, it stopped charging. The USB was only delivering 2.9 V. Even removing the PCB from the tin didn't help. I suspect that the tin shorted some components on the board and may have damaged the MAX756 chip.
My question: how can I test this hypothesis? With a breadboard, perhaps? These chips seem to be somewhat difficult to locate so I wanted to make sure that I was correcting the real problem.
Note: I've re-soldered all of the points on the PCB but no luck.
How to test for faulty Max756?
