deceived... :(

Post by ebamconsulting »

Hi,
I have bought the cool white LED and a minty boost which is version 3.
And as I didn't see the little explanation at the beginning of this tutorial http://www.ladyada.net/make/vintagelight/index.html , I cannot make it.

So what is the solution for me ?
I already have tried two batteries and it's clearly not enough.
As I want to use the minty boost, what do I have to do with it for making work ?

Thank you in advance for the support you will provide me.

Regards

There are a couple of ways to do it. One is to add a regulator to regulate the Minty back down to 3.3v http://www.adafruit.com/products/1066
But a simpler (and more efficient) solution is to skip the MintyBoost and power it directly from a LiPo cell http://www.adafruit.com/products/258
The micro-LiPo charger will charge it from any USB port: http://www.adafruit.com/products/1304
Then you just need a small (2 ohm, 1/4 Watt) current-limiting resistor in series with the LED.
We just built one like a little while ago and it works great.
