Homemade MintyBoost yeilding only 2.5V

Post by magician13134 »

Hmmm... I started breadboarding a MintyBoost and I'm only getting ~2.5V out of it. When I plug in my iPod, it becomes unresponsive, I can't control it at all, but as soon as I unplug it, it works fine. I have taken some pictures of what I have... Maybe someone can make heads or tails of it, I based it off of the proto, single-sided board.
Also, I changed a couple things (a little, kinda)
-I used these inductors:

-My ceramic capacitors are 0.01uF instead of 0.1uf (I think, they just say "10")
-I used a 1N4001 diode, 1A 50V

Ok, here are the pictures:
(I have higher quality versions, if you think that'll help)

Oops, I guess the next four ARE the high quality version... about ~1.5mB each

Oh, well the guy at Radioshack said that was the closest thing they had.

Is that what you would expect to happen with that diode though? IE: Do you think I have everything else wired right?

no idea but it certainly wont work with that diode
so theres not much point it continuing until you get the right parts

Righto, then. Just making sure though, you use 5818, but 5817 will work, right? Thanks.
