Running a mintyboost of an ipod ??

Post by Jama »

Hi there .. this may seem a strage question as the mintyboost is generally used to charge the ipod. I found that pin 18 on the ipod conector gives 3.3v, it is used for accesories, could this be used in conjunction with a mintyboost goving a 5v out to run a small audio amplifier that runs at 5v 30 - 40 ma. The idea is to run a small audio system completly of the dock conector as there are audio outputs and if this idea were to work then i would have the 5v needed.

Thanks in advance

doing some more research .. i found that there is a way to get direct 5v by placing a resistor between pin 21 and gnd, this puts it in camera conector mode and might supply the 5v, even if this does not work i can guess that it should supply enough current as using the camera convertor it could charge a shuffle .... hmm now i just need to get me a dock conector .. also does anyone know a good source for inductors in the UK, free samples are even better :D .

Thanks
Jama
