Minicicircuits shipping costs

Post by c.b. »

Hi,
I was just about buying the VCOs. But Minicircuits charges $80 shipping costs to my country :( This is almost double the value of the two modules!
Is shipping to U.S. also that expensive? Does anybody know an internet shop where I can buy these modules at a reasonable shipping?
Thanks,
c.b.

Contact the sales reps in your country, they can do basic ground but you have to find an actual reseller and ask them to do so. Most don't like dealing with individuals, especially those after $50 of parts. They will likely provide an FOB in or around your area and then you can ask what freight via <preferred method, ground> to <where you are> would be. UPS ground was $20, but due to customs and clearance fees well its not hard to see it would have ended up being $2 more to wait a week longer.

They are listed on the minicircuits site. htxxtps://www.minicircuits.com/pages/contact.html choose NA rep or Int Rep and start firing off emails. I had emailed 4 different companies before I found a one that was willing to work with me.

Was $62 shipping direct from mini-circuits (which resembles closely the actual cost via their shipping method, which is shocking to say the least..)

Actual cost in the end was $5 USPS regular mail. It took nearly 2 weeks to arrive, but it was $57 cheaper. Should I ever need the VCO ASAP I guess I'll have to shell the extra $50...

Thanks. The German reseller Municom ships the parts to individuals, too. They are still expensive, but a lot cheaper than directly from Minicircuits - especially if you only want to buy one pair of VCO's.

The other idea is to order some more parts and sell them to people who want to build a wave bubble. Anybody interested?
