Spokepov speed / frame rate

Post by HKPhoey »

Am I calculating this correctly? for a 20inch wheel, each mph you cycle gives about 0.28 refreshes per second. So if you cycle 15mph you get about 4.2 frames per second on the image.

I've built two spoke povs and attached them to the back wheel of my sons bike, programmed with the same image. Even with the bike upside down and turning the pedals like crazy we can only just make out the image (son's name) because we know what we are looking for. Anyone else who sees it just give us sympathetic looks!

Is anyone else having this problem? Or does everyone get the nice clear images shown in the photos on the site?

Just theorizing here. Do you have the 4X memory? And if you do, did you program just one image?

Yes! I do have the 4K memory, and I used the regular software rather than the animation software, so only put a single image in.

Thanks, I'll try it with 4 images later.

it looks best at night, during the day there isnt much contrast. so try that. two spokes should get you good persistance at <10mph if its a BMX
