Spoke Pov issues

Post by bcook65 »

Just finished my spoke pov kit... Woot!
Just a couple problems I cant resolve.
1. Kit assembled, Connected to pc via serial dongle
Configured software, (Serial - Com 1, Hub 8, Com Delay - 1000, etc)
When I test the port, it fails.. no matter what I set the settings to

2. Despite this I am able to connect to the SPOV, and read the banks with what was preprogrammed onto it.
I can load the samples to it in any order and with any modifications to its dimensions.
But when I import bmp I created, (Text - Hi (ex)) click done with edit button and save as button ( named to same name as bmp that was imported, it appears to save it.

I load all 4 banks with different images and go thru and write/verify each one as I go.
Disconnect from dongle
reconnect, and read the banks, the sample images that I loaded that came with the spov have loaded, but, the ones I created and wrote arent there
Plus when I go back and reload the data files(all seem to be same size 8kb) the sample data files load and show the images fine, but when I load my data files that I made, there appears to be no data and no image displays on screen.

Any Ideas? Am I missing s a step?

Thanks
Bill

take some screen shots so we can see what is going on, it sounds like the spokepov is OK but perhaps you're missing a step with the software?

think i figured out part of it.. I noticed that some of the sample pics had black pixels behind red..
Guess once you import a bitmap, you have to trace over it to fill in the red pixels..
Once I did that, it will save to the data file properly and load to the Spov.
It still fails port test but it does connect and read, write, and verify to it.
Wish the software had a means of drawing straight lines and symmetrical shapes..:)

the pixels must be black (true black) to be 'autodetected'
make sure you save the BMP as monochrome 1-bit
