In my first attempt to create and upload images to my Spoke POV I am having real problems. After I upload a bank I try to verify it and it fails. Then I download what's in the bank and find my image along with a whole lot of random pixels.
The Spoke POV played the default images just fine so I'm assuming the board works.
Is this a timing issue? I'm using a USB dongle with the Spoke POV driver.

Re: Image Trash
Are you using the [urlhttp://www.ladyada.net/make/spokepov/software.html]SpokePOV software[/url] to create your image? Have you tried to load the image into all four banks, with the same result?

Yes, that's the software I'm using. It says it's version 1.4. I get similar results from all 4 banks. The random pixels are different for each bank.

Re: Image Trash
So it works with the pre-loaded images, but you have trouble with loading your own images.
Sounds like the communications link you are using for uploading the images is a little flaky. Have you gone through the tutorial page for configuring and testing the connection?

Re: Image Trash
I'm using the USB version of the dongle. The USB port on my computer works fine with anything else. According to the tutorial there should be no timing issues with the USB connection. The dongle test they show is for a much older version of the parallel version. I get no communications errors when I connect, download, or upload.

Re: Image Trash
Still, the tutorial suggests running the port test, even with the USB dongle. Have you done that?
Now go thru all the steps, verifying the connection. You can Test Port... on the USB dongle but the pictures show the older parallel/serial interfaces. Just pay attention to the box header and ignore that the PCB looks different.
If it worked out, you should get this message!

I'll try it again when I get home from work tonight.

Re: Image Trash
I ran the port test on the dongle and all of the voltages were correct.

Re: Image Trash
OK, this has gotten VERY strange.
I have 6 Spoke POV boards. Each one of them exhibits a different behavior.
The test I run is as follows:
1. I connect to the board
2. I create an image of a single pixel
3. I write the image to bank 1
4. I verify the image
5 I read the image from bank 1
Each of the boards has a unique failure mode:
1. Verifies but the read image has almost all pixels turned on
2. Verifies and the read image is correct
3. Does not verify and two extra pixels are on in the read image.
4. Verifies and the read image is correct
5. Does not verify and random pixels are on in the read image.
6. Shows no banks when connected.
HELP!!!!

Re: Image Trash
can you try the Biohazard image that comes in the software package? Also, check that the EEPROM is seated properly
