Parallel porting problems

Post by royshearer »

Hello. Have been through the parallel port test in SpokePOV software and the dongle is failing on the <0.5v test on pin1 of the header (is it correct that the port test asks me to test the voltage on pin 1 twice in a row? I take it that the voltage should change the second time..?).

I get a constant 3.3v on header pin1 and 3.3v on pin 2 of the dongle, and am hence told that there is a problem with the port and to check the port number (correct), cable and that the BIOS is set 0x378.

My other problem is, I'm not entirely sure how to do that BIOS thing - is it the same as playing with the settings for the port in Windows Device Manager?

Strangely, the software seems to be able to connect to the SpokePOV board occasionally but can't do anything once its got a connection. Have checked the wiring on the dongle thoroughly and it seems fine.
