RGB Spoke POV

Post by kayrock66 »

Like many people posting here I was Jonesing in a major way for a RGB SpokePOV. Its been in the works for a couple months, but now I have some of the first pictures. The design borrows heavily from the great work done by Lady Ada, and uses the same PC software for downloading and control. The images must be color seperated outside, and then are uploaded to banks 1 (red), 2(green), and 3(blue).

Can it display a full range of colors, or can it only do rgb, and combinations of those colors while fully lit (white, yellow, purple, teal)?

In its current state, and working with the LadyAda download software its limited to the 8 color combinations (RGB+CMY+BW). But there is nothing limiting the hardware to go to more gradiants using methods I've described in earlier posts.

Thanks, I like your helecopter POV also. I flew (mostly crashed  ) gas RC helis for a while.

The RGB POV uses 5mm RGB led from e-bay. I paid about 35 cents each and bought 100 of them. It follows the LadyAda hardware very closely but extends to 3 colors.

I for one would love to see the schematic and/or Gerbers for the RGB project!

Let us know when you're ready to share more.

Is there an update to this project? I'd be interested in a schematic and PCB layout and building my own.
