To filter, or not to filter...that is the question.

From what I can gather on the epilog website, it seems that you're required to vent the machine to the outside. I've seen a few setups involving a filter and was wondering if that's a personal preference or what drove that choice?

you should -always- filter even if venting to the outside
and change the prefilter and carbon often
there's laws regarding venting and pollution but it likely differs per city/state so its up to you to research it. OSHA may have more info

Sorry - just to follow up... What level of filtration do you mean? A purex filter or a dust collection bag?

How often are you changing carbon and the pre-filter?

change the pre-filter when it is yellow on the inside or you notice that smoke is not being sucked out very fast
change the carbon when you can smell fumes despite having the pre-filter changed. this will happen 'all of a sudden' and you will definitely know when it happens. all of a sudden the room smelled strongly of acrylic. you can get carbon from allerair or whomever you got the filter from.

Cool. I should have my air filter (the same one you have) some time next week. Do you know off hand what size the carbon is? I'm trying to find alternative places to procure the carbon since it appears to be fairly prevalent.

Also, thank you so much for putting up the wiki and these forums. They've been an invaluable source of information!
