FTDI Friend Not Detected When Plugged In

Post by b34npour »

I just received an FTDI Friend from Adafruit, and when I plug it in via USB it doesn't show up in my terminal when I type "ls /dev/cu.*". The only two things that show up are "/dev/cu.Bluetooth-Modem" and "/dev/cu.Bluetooth-PDA-Sync". I'm on a mac (obviously).

I've tried three different USB cables with the same result. Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong?

Have you tried different USB ports as well? If you are running Parallels, check to see if it is getting picked up by Parallels instead of MacOS.

I made a stupid mistake; the driver wasn't installed. Works fine now, thanks!
