Solar charger stops charging at 3.48V

Post by local_dani_21 »

Hi
I'm running your solar charger (V2) with your large solar panel and a small 1200mAh lipo-battery. It seems very strange to me that the charger lights the green light (fully charged) very soon - when the battery only has 3.48V.

Do you have any idea what could be wrong? Is it still charging when the green light is on or has it stopped?

Thanks, Dani

Is that the only led that is on?

No, the three of them are on (red, yellow, green).

That would indicate a temperature fault. Did you install a thermistor to monitor battery temperature?

Yes I did install one, 10k NTC as far as I recall.
And I'm running it indoors, normal room temperature.

Did you remove the existing 10K resistor from the board?

Ups, in fact I didn't - wasn't aware I had to. Thanks for the tipp, I just removed it and am trying to load the battery. For others to read this post: Look closely at: http://learn.adafruit.com/usb-dc-and-so ... he-charger
Thanks, Dani
