Using 2 HT16k33 backpacks on same project

Post by harrzack »

I will be using the AF 7-segment backpack as well as the backpack for the controller itself - 2 I2C devices. I see on each backpack there are 3 fair-sized spots marked A0,A1,A2. I'm guessing these are the slave address pins. There seems to be little mention of how to set these. They appear to be links to ground such that they default to 111. If I bridge A0 with solder would that make the address of that device 110? I would think that with two different backpacks, this would be necessary to tell them apart...

Could you give a little insight/clarification on how to set the hard address of each I2C device?

Thanks! That was the missing link. It is amazing how little this is mentioned in any comments on either the datasheet itself, or round the web. Guess not many people are putting multiples together... :D
