Does anyone have any idea about a distance limitation on the 1-Wire network?
I want to put out several temperature sensors http://www.adafruit.com/products/374 and am trying to decide if I should make a large on-wire network to read the many temperature sensors, or maybe deploy a bunch of 3.3v Trinkets with their own temp sensor and a wireless transmitter back to a central station.
If I can make a large 1-wire network, it is easy to power from one device, but requires a lot of wiring through walls and stuff (all over my house).
If I make a bunch of small trinket/temp sensors, I have a lot of batteries to keep charged, and I have to figure out a reliable (and inexpensive) way to transmit the temperature data using a wireless signal. I found some 433MHz TX/RX pairs, but have heard that they are unreliable. XBee would be nice, but exceeds my budget. Same with 802.11.
Thanks for the input!
