VS1053 V2 popping noise on musicPlayer.begin()

Post by maldemer »

I have the VS1053 V2 breakout (id 1381) connected to an Arduino Duemilanove. The V2 board seems not to have a GBUF pin as on V1, but an AGND is in its place, thus I have connected the included jack's middle connector to this pin. The player_simple program plays the files on the SD card, but there is a loud popping noise in my headphones on power-up or reset. I have tracked this down to the musicPlayer.begin() statement. This noise occurs regardless of whether the Arduino is powered by USB or an AC adapter.

Have I connected the jack correctly? If so, is there a way to fix this?

AGND is the correct connection for the V2 board. A bit of a pop is normal as the output stage turns on.
