Heya
Just got some MCP23017 chips here. Have yet to try powering up the rest. but I have one that seems to be "stuck" at address 0. No matter what I put on the address pins it stays at 0. It works perfectly as 0.... but only as 0 o.o
have tried with both +5V and Ground.
Is there some setup that needs to be done with the chip or am I looking at a dud?
Datasheet references a register bit that enables/disables the external address..... but then says for the 017 that it is permanently enabled anyhow.
Any help is appreciated ^_^

How are you connecting the pins? They should be attached to either power or ground. Don't leave them floating. Can you post at picture showing your connections?
