Power Consumption of Charger Doctor
I recently purchased a charger doctor and I got to thinking about the power consumption of the device itself. Do you have any specs on the Charger Doctor for its own power consumption. I would like to leave it plugged in to the power source as a monitor. Of course for mains power it wouldn't matter but for battery powered projects would it significantly reduce the runtime of the power source.

Re: Power Consumption of Charger Doctor
I don't think we have specs for it, but the lion's share of current in that general kind of device goes to the display.. in this case, the 7-segment LEDs.
A single 7-segment digit running full blast can consume up to 140mA, which would be a significant fraction of the current flowing through the device. Four of them running all at once could consume up to 560mA, which is obviously way too high.
I'd be more inclined to think the LEDs are running at about 5mA each, and that the digits are multiplexed to reduce power consumption further. I'd guess it to be around 30-35mA for the whole device, but that's strictly a guess.

I suppose one Charger Doctor could measure another, but I'm generally the paranoid type when it comes to my own creations. A good pair of NiMH batteries will go along way if you treat them right.
