Hey,
I recently purchased the ST7565 Positive GLCD, however I am unable to get any life out of it. I tried multiple setups to get it working (mbed, teensy 3, Arduino UNO) including the reference design (http://www.ladyada.net/learn/lcd/st7565.html), but nothing shows up, no LCD segments appear. This GLCD is brand new all I have done is solder wires (which I checked for bridges there are none). The back-light works fine.
Any suggestions would be welcome
Thanks,
Ethan Hawke

That picture is a bit hard to see where all the wires go. Could you post some of the connections at the display and tell us where the wires are connected and how you are powering it all? Thanks.

Here's a known-good connection to a Teensy 3.0. Only 1 resistor is needed, to limit the backlight LED current.
As you can see in the photo, it's definitely working. :-)
However, I noticed your ST7565 has 11 wires. This ST7565 was purchased from Adafruit a couple years ago. It came with only 9 wires.

Hmm, my ST7565 purchased from Adafruit has 9 wires. So do all the ones in photos on this page:
http://www.ladyada.net/learn/lcd/st7565.html
But the photos on the product page have 11 wires.

Looks like the extra 2 pins might just be for the backlight? But I really can't speak for Adafruit's products.

Winner! Yes, yours was a monochrome version with + and - for the backlight. the new ones have R,G,B so they need two more pins.Looks like the extra 2 pins might just be for the backlight?

Re: Lifeless ST7565
Success! Thank you Paul, your teensy did the trick!
Interestingly the first time I tried it on the teensy I must have used an older IDE, because I had to patch it to get it to compile, this version 1.0.5-r2 worked fine!
Oh and yes I have the new RGB version.
Thanks again,
Ethan Hawke
