Would it be possible somehow to extend the passive antenna of Adafruit Ultimate GPS Breakout just a couple of cm? It would be nice to use the SMA for this, is it possible?
Thanks for your patience, I'm a noob at this.

I'm not quite sure what you want to do..
Do you mean connecting a couple centimeters of antenna/wire to the uFL connector on the breakout? If so, that's technically possible but wouldn't do much good as an antenna.

Re: Ultimate GPS and passive antenna
I will have the gps in a metal box. Can I extend the antenna to get reception without using an active antenna?

Re: Ultimate GPS and passive antenna
Ah.. I get it.
That should be possible, but it wouldn't be quite as easy as running a chunk of wire. You'd need a passive GPS antenna (like the one attached to the Ultimate GPS module), a jumper that will connect the antenna to the uFL connector on the breakout, and an electrical connection between the GPS module's GND and the metal box.
We don't carry passive antennas as separate products, but you can get them from Mouser or Digikey. I'm not sure exactly what part you'd need though, so let me check with one of our GPS experts.
